JustRite Sponsoring The Shabby Tea Room Challenge!

May 31, 2010 by JustRite Papercraft 10 Comments

JustRite is proud to be sponsoring this week's (#12) challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room!  Each week, they host a new challenge and this week the challenge theme is:  ‘Dear to my Heart’ … use a heart as the focal point in your design.  You can find all the challenge details and fabulous inspiration from The Shabby Tea Room designers over at their blog today – you don't want to miss all the amazing samples their design team put together using JustRite's stamps!

By entering their challenge, you'll be eligible to win the JustRite prize package (shown below) of some of our newest stamps that will be released this week: 1 Nested Frames set, 2 Nested Sentiment sets and a set of our brand new CLEAR horizontal stampers!

5-31-10 Shabby Tea Room Prize

My sample for The Shabby Tea Room Challenge #12 uses a brand new 1-5/8" round Birthday Sentiments set that we'll be debuting and giving you more information about later this week:

Shabby12JustForYouSH

I stamped the "Just for You" sentiment onto patterned paper with Espresso dye ink and then die cut it with Spellbinders Classic Heart Nestabilities die:

JustRite Friday Challenge 020: Sponsored by Copic!

May 28, 2010 by JustRite Papercraft 8 Comments

Welcome to another JustRite Friday Challenge … just in time to help keep you occupied over the long holiday weekend!  This week's challenge, sponsored by one of our favorite marker companies, Copic, is to use your JustRite ROUND stamps with this inspiration sketch:

JRC_021 Sketch

If you don't have any of our round stamps, then please feel free to use whatever JustRite stamps you do have – most of our stamp images will fit onto a round shape!  So you could think outside the box and use some of our square stamper images, but just put them on a round shape.

The idea here is to help get you thinking about using some different shapes you may not otherwise use AND to see examples of how other people might get creative in layering their round images, which can only help grow YOUR creativity!

We'll be making our sketches a regular part of our Friday Challenges, covering a lot of different shapes and elements, so we hope you'll look forward to them!  We will house all the sketches in a special photo album over in our sidebar, for quick & easy future reference.

I love designing with sketches, as it's one-third of your whole project already thought out for you!  All you have to do is choose a stamp set and paper and you are ready to create!  Here's my example using this sketch (another sneak peek project from the new 2010 JustRite Catalog & Idea Book!):

StitchedWithLoveCard-SHwm

I went the more traditional route and used our 2-3/8" round Stitched With Love stamp set, die cut with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities (both the border and the center) and framed them with Big Scalloped Circle Nestabilities.

StitchedWithLoveCardClose-SHwm

I stamped and die cut the center image separately from the border, masked off the heart image and airbrushed Copic R21 marker over it.  Then I colored the heart with Copic R22, R24 & R29.  Silver Copic Atyou Spica Glitter Pen was used to color the needle, to help make it a realistic!  A real button was stitched onto the "O" in LOVE.  The center was popped up on foam tape over the die cut border.

CHALLENGE  RULES:
You will need to use JustRite products for your project and upload it to an online blog, gallery or photo hosting website.  (Please see our blog post HERE for important information about our gallery on Flickr, how to upload to it, and another opportunity to win some JustRite products!).

You will then need to link to your project back here on our blog post, using the linking system on this challenge post.  Please make certain your link is directly to your project, not just your general blog home page or overall photo gallery, so we can find it easily.  (Links that  are spam, commercial in content, or are not linked properly/directly to your project will be deleted).  If you choose to upload your project to www.Splitcoaststampers.com OR our Flickr gallery, please use the weekly challenge code (example: JRC_020  <== that's an underscore between the letters and numbers) in the keyword section of the Splitcoast project upload page or the Tag section of the Flickr gallery.

You will have until next Thursday, June 3rd at 9am Central to make your project and enter a link to it below.  Then the winners will be chosen and announced a little later that day here on the JustRite Inspiration Blog.  By entering our challenges, you grant JustRite Stampers permission to use your artwork here on our blog as well as any possible advertising.

This week's challenge winner will receive a set of 12 Copic Ciao markers, similar to these (colors may vary):

Ciao 12 Set-Soft Pastels

Honorable Mention winners will each receive one stamp set of their choice and a new clear horizontal block from next week's release!  We can't wait to see all your sketch cards!  You can see some samples from our design team, using this sketch, in the first few linked entries below (they are ineligible for prizes) — we hope you'll check those out!

JustRite Catalog Blog Hop & Announcing New Design Team Member!

May 25, 2010 by JustRite Papercraft 15 Comments

Are you ready for an exciting new JustRite Catalog & Idea Book sneak peek blog hop?!!  Today, each of our fabulous designers will be sharing one special never-seen-before project they each have in the new catalog.  This will be just a small sampling of what you will find in this wonderful idea book!

And joining us on today's hop is a new JustRite Design Team member, Stephanie Kraft!  Welcome to the team, Stephanie!  Here's a little bit about Stephanie:

Stephanie Kraft Framed Stephanie took up scrapbooking for a brief time in the mid-1990s while she worked in the computer industry. She had a renewed interest in the hobby shortly after the birth of her daughter in 2003. Five years later as a stay-at-home Mom, she discovered the world of stamping blogs and found that she was spending more and more time being inspired by others but creating nothing herself. She created a blog of her own in September 2008 with the thought that it would motivate her to create artwork more regularly. Since then, rarely a day goes by that she doesn’t get inky! Though she loves scrapbooking and preserving family memories, her current passion is in making cards and handmade gifts. She also enjoys photography, cooking and spending time with friends and family. Stephanie currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her very supportive (and tolerant of her hobby/obsession) husband of 10 years and 7-year-old daughter.

Some of you may recognize Stephanie's name from winning a LOT of our JustRite Friday Challenges, so you may be happy to know that she won't be eligible to win any more of those challenges now that she's on our design team, LOL!

To read more about all of our Design Team, just click over to our newly updated "About Us & Design Team" page of our blog (linked at the top, right under our blog banner)!

Stephanie, along with all of our designers, are very excited to share their project sneak peeks with you and you'll be able to find the full project supply lists for their projects in the catalog!

Here's a new project I have in the catalog, one of my favorite things to create … cookbooks!

Recipe-Book-WMSH

Here's a close-up … I used our 1-3/16" Recipe Borders & Centers set for the tabs and I had fun using the "Bon Appetite" phrase as a semi-circle accent down the left spine of the book:

Recipe-Book-closeWMSH

I customized the cover with "Family Favorite Recipes" of the Harnists — my last name spelled out with our Small Letter Set and monogram initial using Times New Roman Uppercase font!  They are in the center of a Spellbinder's Dahlia flower die cut.

You will find the complete supply list for my cookbook in the new catalog, along with each of the projects our design team is sharing with you today!

Before you start your hopping, we wanted to let you know that we are moving our May release introductions to next week. JustRite Friday Challenge 018: Kid Time Sponsored by Spellbinders

May 14, 2010 by JustRite Papercraft 5 Comments

This week's Friday Challenge #018 has been taken over by the kids and is sponsored by Spellbinders!  For your chance to win some Spellbinders dies & templates, we want to see what you can create for kids — whether they are your own kids, neighbor kids, grandkids, nieces/nephews, or maybe even something to donate to the kid's wing of your local hospital — we want to see your kid gifts, encouragement notes, birthday cards, special treats, or scrapbook pages of kids!

Here are a few jumping off points for you to consider:

Of course our new Let's Celebrate set is a perfect choice for kid's cards, but you can also find whimsical sentiments or images great for kids in these stamp sets, too:

Favorite Occasions, Tiny Words, Just A Note (Dream Big, Make a Wish).  The sailboat from By The Sea would make a great boy's birthday card or wonderful accents on beach scrapbook pages for the kids.  And any of our floral images would make wonderful cards for girls!  The shopping/shoes & purse images, and "Just Divas" sentiment from our Girl Time set (on sale this month!) make darling cards or scrapbook accents for girls, too!

Our large cupcake center with bonus 25-point font is another great choice for kid's birthday cards, as well as the "Birthday Girl" sentiment from our Birthday Wishes set (also on sale this month!).

Even Romantic Sentiments (Thank you for being my sunshine every day!), Seeds of Kindness (You make me smile, Bloom where you are planted), Loving Thoughts (Sending you a bucket full of kisses) can work well on encouraging cards for kids, when combined with bright colors & fun papers!

JustRite design team member, Angela Barkhouse, created this fun kid's birthday card using our Let's Celebrate set:

JRC_018 Angela

And Michelle Wooderson created this fabulous kid's birthday card using Let's Celebrate:

JRC_018 Mish

My samples also use our new Let's Celebrate set:

JRC_018 KidClipsSH

I made these 2" x 1.75" refrigerator magnetic clips to keep track of each of my kids' mounds of important school papers (I'm sure some of you have this, too?!!).  This way, they're in plain sight and not forgotten or in the way where something can get spilled on them!  Here's what the magnetic clips look like before embellishing — they have very large & strong magnets on the back and I found them at Staples Office Supply:

JRC_018 KidClipsB4SH

I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored them with these Copic markers:

JRC_018 KidClipsCopicSH

I used JustRite's 25-point Times New Roman Uppercase font to spell out my girls' names and then die cut them with Spellbinders Tiny Tags die.  I adhered the patterned papers and images to the clips using my Xyron.  A little bling and ribbon finish them up!

If you choose to upload your project to www.Splitcoaststampers.com OR our Flickr gallery, please use the weekly challenge code (example: JRC_018  <== that's an underscore between the letters and numbers) in the keyword section of the Splitcoast project upload page or the Tag section of the Flickr gallery.

You will have until next Thursday, May 20th at 9am Central to make your project and enter a link to it below.  Then the winners will be chosen and announced a little later that day here on the JustRite Inspiration Blog.  By entering our challenges, you grant JustRite Stampers permission to use your artwork here on our blog as well as any possible advertising.

This week's challenge winner will receive these Spellbinders Nestabilities dies (Big Scalloped Circles-Lg & Labels 12):
