Tutorial Tuesday DIY Stamped Burlap Gift Bag designed by Heidi Blankenship

July 29, 2014 by JustRite Papercraft 51 Comments

Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday, today JustRite designer Heidi Blankenship shares how to create a DIY Burlap Gift Bag using JustRite Stamps, StazOn ink, and Spectrum Noir markers. This is a quick and easy project to create and it will be a perfect presentation for gift giving.

Before we get started with today's tutorial we need to anounce a winner! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us comments.  We are totally enjoying getting to know each of our readers.

Congratulation to last week's Tutorial Tuesday Giveaway winner Pat Burger.  You have won two background stamps of your choice.

Pat Barger said…

Always love your cards and tutorials Darsie! Thanks for your inspiration. My favorite paper manufacturer is Bazzil….love the quality and range of colors. I most always buy single sheets, to fit my needs at the moment. Thanks for the chance to win the stamps!

Please email me at kellie@justritepapercraft.com with your background stamp selection and shipping information. Please use Tutorial Tuesday Winner as the subject of your email.

If you are reading this blog post from a feedburner email click here to see Heidi's video.

Here is the project that I will be making today.  For those of you who do not have a fast enough internet connection to watch the video you can see my step shots and instructions below.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-6

Instructions:

To create my sunflower ribbon for the burlap tote I used CR_02097 Stitched Sunflowers Vintage Labels Eight Clear Stamps, StazOn Saddle Brown  ink,  Spectrum Noir Markers™ -CT2, CT4, GB3, GB6, CG2, TN6, EB7 and May Arts 2.5" Cotton Blend Vintage Print -Plain. To fray the ends of the ribbon pull off a few strings on each end.

Randomly stamp the large sunflower, small sunflower and leaf across the entier piece of ribbon using StazOn Saddle Brown ink. Here you can see the entire piece of ribbon after all the images were stamped.  This is the first look–if you want something very natural looking you could stop here.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-1

For the second look–ink the edges and blank spaces on the ribbon.  Doing this will give the ribbon a aged and richer look.  If you don't want to do any coloring you would stop here.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-2

Now for the third and final look–adding color using Spectrum Noir markers.  When coloring the images try not to color up to the inside lines so the color doesn't blend with the ink.  When coloring the ribbon I am doing it very lightly and the colors just blend in to the ribbon.  This is quick and easy basic coloring and would be great even for someone who is new to alcohol markers.  Here is the ribbon once the entier piece was stamped, inked and colored.  I love how this turned out!  It is so quick and easy to customized your stamped ribbon and it will look like printed ribbon.  :)

DIYBurlapGiftBag-3

For the next part of my project  I will be stamping on the cut shapes.  I used SVG-02097 SVG Stitched Sunflowers Vintage Labels Eight Cut File Download for CR-02097 and the Silhouette Cameo to cut the shapes.

I used the exact cut file to cut these shapes and I find it a lot easier to stamp them if I have the stamp facing up and then place the SVG cut file on top of the inked stamp.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-11

TIP:  Before inking the stamp, take the cut image and line it up on the stamp and then set it to the side. Then ink your stamp. It is a lot easier to pick it up and place on the stamp the SVG once you have it lined up instead of inking the stamp and then holding the cut image above and moving it around to line up.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-10

Rub over the back of the paper and carefully lift it up.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-12

To color the images I used Spectrum Noir markers.  All of the markers are in the supply list at the end of this post.

 DIYBurlapGiftBag-4

These cut shapes are going to be added to the tag.  To create the tag I used  JustRite Die-  JB-02087 Vintage Labels Eight Dies.  For the larger piece I used brown cardstock and for the smaller piece I used kraft.  I stamped the frame image and sentiment from the C CR_02097 Stitched Sunflowers Vintage Labels Eight Clear Stamps on to the piece of kraft.  I adhered all of the pieces together using E-Z Runner and 3D Foam Squares.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-5

Here is a look at the finsihed burlap bag.  Like I said this is a wine bag but you could actually use it for anything you would like.  This will make a beautiful altered bag for gift giving.

With just a few supplies the burlap bags are very inexpensive and quick and easy to alter.   I purchased a set of the burlap bags at Walmart in the craft department and they were $3.47 for the two bags.

DIYBurlapGiftBag-6

Here is a close up of my gift tag.

Stamps:  JustRite® Papercraft CR_02097 Stitched Sunflowers Vintage Labels Eight Clear Stamps
Paper:  Ivory, Kraft, Brown
Ink:  Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko StazOn Saddle Brown, Memento Rich Cocoa

Tutorial Tuesday – Tissue Box cover

February 4, 2014 by JustRite Papercraft 18 Comments

Welcome to the 6th Edition of Tutorial Tuesday. Today Angela Barkhouse is sharing her Tissue Box Cover Tutorial. This is such a fun way to use many of our background stamps.

Here's Angela:

I have been asked several times for instructions on how to make these adorable tissue box covers.  They are super easy to make and looks so much better sitting on a counter or desk than a plain tissue boxes.

Here is a look at 2 finished tissue box covers.  For more information on the green tissue box cover check out my blog post here.

IMG_1529

These covers fit right over the actual box of tissues that can be purchased at almost every store.  The actual tissue box size is 4 1/2" x 5 5/8".

IMG_1531

Here is  a close up of the box that I am creating today using our February Release Background designed by Becca Feeken – Filigree Diamond Cling Background Stamp.

Finished

To create the sides of the Tissue Box

Diagram Tissue Box

To create the top of the tissue box Tissue Box Top Diagram

Attach the 4 side pieces by using packing tape or washi tape.  Be sure to leave a small space between each side to allow the pieces to bend into a box.

Chipboard-taped

This is how the box will look once all of the sides are attached

Box

Once the box is formed, to hide the corner joints I added pieces of cardstock ( 5 5/8" x 1", scored at 1/2" to each corner.  This step is not necessary if you are using washi tape to attach the box sides.

Black-edges

To cover the top piece (4 1/2" x 4 1/2"), I cut a piece of paper 6" x 6", adhere to chipboard, cut corners, folded over the paper and glue in place.

Top-step-1

This is what the top piece looks like once it's covered.

Top-step-2

Next, decide what shape the opening is going to be.  I chose to use Spellbinders Labels Four– Die #3, diecut using Spellbinders Grand Caliber.

Top-step-3

Adhere the top to the box.  I used the beautiful die Lacey Tiers from Becca Feeken to finish the top of the tissue box.

Finished-box

Now comes the fun part – decorating the tissue box cover.  For each side I used the new background stamp called Diamond Filigree Background Stamp.  The JustRite Papercraft's background stamps are a perfect fit for decorating these tissue box covers.

I like to decorate each side with a variety of stamps so that each side is different.  For this side I chose a frame from Ribbon & Swags Vintage Labels Seven clear stamps, a sentiment from Special Gifts Labels Twenty Nine clear stamps and diecut using JustRite Papercraft Vintage Labels Seven die.

Finished-side-1

This side also uses the frame from Ribbon & Swags Vintage Labels Seven clear stamps, a different sentiment from Special Gifts Labels Twenty Nine clear stamps and diecut using JustRite Papercraft Vintage Labels Seven die.

Finished-box-side-2

Here I also used a frame from Ribbon & Swags Vintage Labels Seven clear stamps but chose a sentiment from Poppies Labels Twenty Nine cling stamps.

Finished-side-3

For the last side, I used the same frame from Ribbons & Swags Vintage Labels Seven clear stamps, a sentiment from Special Gifts Labels Twenty Nine clear stamps and diecut using JustRite Papercraft Vintage Labels Seven die.

Finished-side-4

These tissue boxes are super easy to make and are great gifts for everyone.  I hope you give it a try.

Day Three with Guest Designer Debbie Seyer – Baking Antique Tags One Clear Stamps

November 21, 2013 by JustRite Papercraft 8 Comments

Good morning.  Today is the final day with guest designer Debbie Seyer.  We would like to thank Debbie for sharing some great projects with us this week.  For more of Debbie's inspiration, please visit her blog – A Peek Into My Stamping Room.

Here's Debbie:

Hello JustRite© Papercrafts Fans!   Today is my last day to be a guest designer and I just wanted to take a minute to thank Kellie and Angela for having me!  I have had so much fun.  Today I want to share with you a quick and easy project that I am making for all my homemade Christmas presents this year.  It has become a tradition that our family gives a handmade gift to favorite teachers, church friends, the mailman, etc…  This year we are making Brownie Mix in a Jar for everyone.  Since we will be giving so many of these gifts, I wanted to decorate them quick and easy.

Debbie day 3

Making the tag to hang from the jar is quick and easy….don’t worry!  Here is how I made the tag…..

Stamp the jar image from Baking Antique Tags One Clear Stamps twice -  Once on white cardstock and another time onto grey cardstock.  I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the images.

Debbie day 3b

Fussy cut just the grey lid off the jar image.  Color the jar image with a Copic marker (if you want…totally up to you!).

Debbie day 3c

Stamp the tag image and the sentiment inside using black ink.  Using the corresponding die from Antique Tags One die set, die cut the smaller tag.  In the picture, I used a piece of repositionable tape to hold the die in place while cutting.

Debbie day 3d

Fussy cut the jar image and glue the grey lid into place.  Also attach the sentiment tag.  Punch a hole in the tag so that you can use some cute colored twine to tie it to your jar.

Debbie day 3e

Here is what my jar looks like!  I think this will make great presents this year.  We usually make at least 20 of these types of presents so I better get busy!

Debbie day 3f

I found the recipe for this brownie mix in a jar on Pinterest.  I have to say that I haven’t actually baked the brownies yet and would really like to taste them before I recommend the recipe.  I will be posting on my blog next week about my recipe results!  Do you have a good recipe for brownies in a jar?  If so, please share!

Thanks again  JustRite® Papercraft for having me!  I had a great time designing these fun projects!

Project Recipes:

  • JustRite® Papercraft Stamps – Baking Antique Tags One Clear Stamps
  • JustRite® Papercraft Die template – Antique Tags One Dies
  • Cardstock – Simply Smooth White, Rock Candy (Bazzill Basics Paper)
  • Ink – Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad
  • Accessories – twine (Doodlebug Designs Inc.); copic markers; Zip Dry Adhesive

Day One with Guest Designer Debbie Seyer – Black Eyed Susan Vintage Labels Five

November 18, 2013 by JustRite Papercraft 2 Comments

Good morning everyone.  We are very happy to have Debbie Seyer as a guest designer for the next 3 days.  With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away Debbie has a beautiful Thanksgiving table setting to share.

Here’s Debbie:

Hello JustRite© Papercrafts Fans!   I am so excited and honored to be guest designing for such a wonderful company!  Today I would like to share with you a project I made for my family’s Thanksgiving table.  Every Thanksgiving, my mom is the hostess but I get the honor of designing the Thanksgiving table.  This year I fell in love with the Black-Eyed Susan Vintage Labels Five Clear stamp set and the matching Vintage Labels Five die template.  Here is my table setting:

Deb S 1

To create this place setting, I stamped the black-eyed susan stamp onto white cardstock using Rich Cocoa Memento ink and used Copic Markers to color it.  I did this 4 times for my 3 projects

Debbie 2

After coloring the image, I fussy cut them out and used some Crystal Stickles on them to give them shine and set them aside to dry.  Now its time to make the little napkin holder using the Vintage Labels Five die template.  I cut/embossed 2 of the largest from the die set out of chocolate brown cardstock.  Then I cut a strip of the same cardstock to 2 ½ x 11”.  Then I scored the strip at 4” & 7” across the short side and at ½” along the long edges.  Then I cut from the edge to the score line at the 4” & 7” score marks plus prefolded all the edges to form the box.

Debbie 3

Debbie4

Then I added the scor-tape to the bottom of the Vintage Labels Five die cuts.

Debbie6

Here is what your box should look like at this point!

Debbie7

Now add some Scor-tape or liquid adhesive to the rounded edges of the die cut and assemble your box.

Debbie8

Debbie9

After putting my box together, I decorated it with the black-eyed susans and added the So Thankful sentiment from Good Friends Labels Twenty-Nine Clear Stamp set.  I also created a napkin ring and treat bag.  Everyone needs a treat bag full of chocolate kisses to take home, don’t you agree?    Hope this project inspires you to make something special for your Thanksgiving table!

Day Two with Guest Designer Robin Parker – Boo-tiful Cameos Clear Stamps and Spider Web Background Cling Stamp

October 27, 2013 by JustRite Papercraft 7 Comments

Good morning.  We would like to send a big thanks to Robin for guest designing for us this weekend!!  Today Robin has an adorable Halloween onesie to share with us.  For even more inspiration, please visit Robin's blog – Robin's Creative Nest.

Here's Robin:

Thanks
again to Kellie for asking me to Guest Design for JustRite®
Papercraft
.   I wanted to try something
different and I have never stamped on fabric before.  I have many babies around my household so I
decided to make a Halloween onesie.  This
is a fun and easy gift to create.

The
box was created using an old coffee filter container.  Spray paint the lid black.  Stamp the “Spider Web Background” onto white card stock.  Cut and stamp four times to wrap around the
box.  Next, using the Boo-tiful Cameos Clear Stamps Halloween word, ink the stamp
with three different colors to make a band to go around the box.  Stamp the Halloween word  twice,  next to each other and make two.  Cut and glue the two strips onto black card stock and adhere together to make the strip go around the entire box.  For the bow, I used Becca Feeken “Mini Paper Bow Tutorial”.  I used the two larger ovals and added an extra
oval to the top. Cut another strip and stamp with the Spiderweb Background Stamp in black
to create the ribbon under the bow.  Finally I added a black spider and cob web
brad to the bow.

To
make the Halloween onesie use black, orange, purple and lime green Staz-On
ink.  Stamp the words and spider from Boo-tiful Cameos Clear Stamps all over the front and back of
the onesie.  This is an adorable gift for
a baby’s first Halloween.

October 7, 2013 by JustRite Papercraft 31 Comments

Good morning everyone.  We are very excited to once again have Melissa Bove guest designing for us.  She will be sharing projects for the next 3 days so be sure to come back each day and check out her amazing projects.  You can also check out Melissa's blog for more inspiration.

Here's Melissa:

Hi Everyone! I’m so happy to be back here Guest
Designing for my favorite stamp company! Love JustRite!

 As soon as
I saw The Scoop Vintage Labels Four Clear Stamps  I knew I
had to have it! It’s just so darn cute! Love the “sweet” ice cream cones and
those darling vintage labels!! It is just perfect for that special Birthday or
for anyone with a “Sweet Tooth”!

I first stamped the Vanilla label onto some pink
cardstock with some black ink and then die cut it using the JustRite Vintage Labels Four Dies. I then
colored in some of the words with some Distress Markers. I then adhered it over
some more Vintage Labels Four die cuts. The ice cream cone was stamped onto
some white cardstock using some brown ink. I added some glitter to the ice
cream and then added a tag around the cone.

I love to alter mason jars and use them as little
gift holders. They can be filled with shredded paper and then a small gift like
money, a gift card or even jewelry can be stuffed inside. For this jar, I added
one of the Scoop Labels and colored it in using some Distress Markers and
glitter.

I then filled the jar with some shredded paper,
lollipops and a mini clothespin. I decorated the rest of the jar with some
paper, seam binding, a plastic spoon, and some pom pom trim. These would make
great place card holders for a “Sweet Sixteen” party too! Just add the person’s
name or the Table Number to the clothespin.
