For today's project I used the Spectrum Aqua Markers with CL-02138 Sweet Posies Cling Stamps from JustRite Papercraft to create a wall decor piece. I stamped the floral image on to Strathmore Watercolor paper using Jet Black StazOn ink. Please note that results vary with different watercolor papers.  I prefer using Spectrum Aquas with the Strathmore Watercolor Paper.

  SAMTT-1

To color the flower just do one petal at a time. Start with the darkest color at the base of the petal which is WildFlower and then I added the second color Purple.

SAMTT-2

Next put the brush in the water and then use a paper towel to blot off the excess water.

SAMTT-3

Start on the outer edge of the petal by just adding water and then work your way in to the color. Doing this will allow the watercolor to flow and blend in to the water. If you have too much water on the brush it will wash out the color.

SAMTT-4

If you want the color to be darker or if it does get too washed out you can always add more color.  When water coloring you need to make sure each area is dry before painting another section. So you can either more to another section or dry the area with a heat tool. If you don't do this the colors can bleed into each other. Continue to color the rest of the petals and heat setting in between to speed up the process.

SAMTT-5

To color the yellow center of the flowers I used the Sunflower yellow marker.  I used the fine tip end of the marker.  To color the dark center part of the flower I used the fine tip on the Wildflower marker.

SAMTT-6

To color the leaves and stems of the flowers I used the Moss marker.

  SAMTT-7

It's a little harder to see on the leaves but I water colored them the same as the flowers. Add the color with the marker and then add water to the white area and blend the color out.

To add color to the background I start by adding Aquamarine close to the edge of the flowers. Then I bring in a brush with clean water and I add water first and then come into the color and blend out.

  SAMTT-8

If you get too much water or color on your brush you can blot it on a paper towel.

SAMTT-9

After the Aquamarine color was blended all around the flower and dry then I added more Aquamarine, Teal, and Peacock Blue.

For this part I am using a larger round brush. I scribbled some color from the markers on my board. Next I am adding water to the paper and adding color a little at a time to the background until I get the effect that I want. Adding the water first will allow the color to move and blend.

SAMTT-10

Once the background is done and dried I wanted to add some paint splatters. I scribbled some of the Black on my board and added water. Then I tapped my brush to add the paint splatters. I dried the paint splatters and then added some water drops to create the white drops.

AquaMarkersTTHeidiBlankenship-2

To finish my project I trimmed down the watercolor paper. To create my DIY Home Decor piece I purchased a wooden frame and a 6" x 6" canvas at Michaels. I spray painted the frame with black spray paint and I painted the canvas with a layer of white paint.  When these were both dry I glued my watercolor paper to my frame with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. After that dried I applied the Ranger Multi Medium Matte to the back of the frame and and the watercolor paper.

Day Two with Guest Designer Robin Parker

June 25, 2013 by JustRite Papercraft 4 Comments

Good morning.  Welcome to Day 2 with Robin Parker.  Today Robin has a really cute candy box to share with us.

Here's Robin:

I am having so much fun being the Guest Designer and using
the new June releases for JustRite Papercraft.

Gratefulheartbox2

The project for today is a candy box.  First I folded my piece of cream cardstock in
half.  Then I used the “Romantic Rectangle” by Spellbinders, to cut out my middle and top with the sides still connected
to create the lid. I cut out another rectangle for the bottom of my box.  Next, I cut out 2 strips of cream cardstock 2
½ X 9 inches.  Score both strips at 3 ½
on your Scor-Pal. I then glued the two strips together to create a rectangle.
My next step is to glue the top and bottom to the sides. And your box is ready
to decorate. To decorate this box I used “Floral Vintage Labels Two” to create the triangles.  I stamped the design with Versamark ink and
used orange embossing powder and heat gun to create the ornate design.  I did this twenty times and cut each
out.  I glued them to the top and bottom
on the side of box.  Next, I stamped the
flower from the same stamp set twice with black Marvy ink.  Colored both with Copic markers and cut out
each petal on one image.  Then, I glued
the cut out pieces onto the other colored image to raise my petals to look more
real.  I stamped the symbol from “Graceful Monogram” with Versamark ink and embossed with
the orange embossing powder.  I did this
ten times and cut them out. I glued them to the center of my triangles and on
the corners of the top lid. The frames on the top of the box are created with “Winged Vintage Labels Two &
Three”
, “Vintage Labels Two” and “Vintage Labels Three Dies”.
I stamped them with the Versamark ink and embossed them with orange
embossing powder.  I glued my flower onto
the center of the top frame.  I used pop
dot adhesives to raise the frames.

Day-1-box

On the
inside of the lid, I used “Grateful Hearts Vintage Label Two” and “Vintage Labels Two Dies” to create the frame and
sentiment.  I added Recollection
decorative pearls to the outer edge on the inside opening.  My finishing touches are small, medium and
large pearls.

Day Two with Guest Designer Holly Simoni

April 16, 2013 by JustRite Papercraft 4 Comments

Good morning – welcome to Day Two with Guest Designer Holly Simoni.  Today Holly has a stunning Silhouette Bracelet to share with us.  Be sure to check out Holly's blog – Wild Wyoming Art Cafe' -for more mixed media inspiration.

Here's Holly:

Today I have created a Silhouette Bracelet to share with you. It turned into one of my favorite projects. I've used the fabulous JustRite Stamps Graceful Monogram set for this project. The silhouette stamp fits perfectly inside the Spellbinders hobnail circles bezel.

Holly3

I purchased a pre-made crochet bracelet from a craft store, then added stamping, ribbon, bling and resin.

Holly4

I decided I wanted to give the silhouette stamp a deep glossy black finish. So I stamped the silhouette with Versamark ink and poured black fine detail embossing powder over the ink, then heat embossed. The glossy embossed silhouette is stunning! I then used my Spellbinders Artisan Explorer die cutting machine to cut out image. I used the circles one die template that perfectly matches the hobnail circle bezel. Using a little piece of tape to secure the die template, helps to keep it in the perfect place around the stamped image. I also used a permanent solvent ink to stamp the beautiful swirls onto the blue ribbon.

 Holly5

The stamped ribbon was adhered with double sided permanent tape and a few rhinestones were added. I adhered the silhouette image to the bezel with glossy accents and applied a thin coat of matte finish glossy accents to the stamped image. I layered rhinestone chain inside the bezel, and around the silhouette. Then allowed the glossy accents to dry. I mixed Ice Resin according to manufacturer instructions and poured it into the bezel. The ice resin takes about 6hrs to complete cure. Then I adhered the finished bezel to the center of the bracelet with E6000 adhesive.

I just love how this turned out and am thinking of making an entire jewelry line to match it! Think how fun a pendant, ring and even earrings would be. I hope you enjoyed this project!

hugs,
Holly
