JustRite Friday Challenge #080 – More Than One Fold

August 24, 2012 by JustRite Papercraft 3 Comments

I’ve got another fun challenge for you here at JustRite Inspiration. I even stump myself sometimes and barely got this one done in time. I sometimes wish I could see what you all make before I have to show you mine – LOL! At least these challenges make me try new things too and isn’t that what it’s all about?

For this challenge, I would like you to create a card with “More Than One Fold”. This could be an easel card, criss cross card, tri-shutter card, gate fold, etc. I have seen some really great styles out there and cant wait to see what you guys come up with. Remember, it MUST be a card and MUST have more than one fold to qualify.

I chose a Criss Cross style card using Antique Christmas Tags One & Shabby Chic Autumn Leaves.

CrissCrossRecipeCardI intended it to hold the recipe card for a dessert dish that I plan to bring to a family gathering over the holiday weekend. You can get more details and additional pics of my project on my blog here.

Angela Barkhouse also joined in with this AMAZING Double Tri-Shutter card using Just The Right Words, Botanical Medallions & Banners, Seeds of Summer, Vintage Alphabet Soup BG, Elegant Fronds BG, and Fleuriste Newsprint BG….WOW!

JustRite Friday Challenge 041: Holiday Recipe Swap Winners!

October 28, 2010 by JustRite Papercraft 7 Comments

Here are the winners of our JustRite Friday Challenge #041 Holiday Recipe Swap:

JustRite CLING Logo

This week's grand prize winner, receiving TWO JustRite Cling stamp sets of your choice and a Mini Binder Box is:

Debbie Marcinkiewicz with this fabulous holiday clipboard:

JRC_041 Debbie M

Debbie designed this clipboard to hold the holiday menu, holiday to-do lists, or a favorite holiday recipe!  She used the "Believe" sentiment from our Christmas Nested Sentiments.  The sparkly glittered clips were made with the "Sweet Treats", "Merry Christmas from our house to yours" and snowman images from our Something Sweet set.   And the pretty green heart accent ("Sending a little love this holiday season") is from our Baking Centers set.  Click over to Debbie's blog to find the fabulous Candy Cane Brownie Lollipop recipe she has to share!

Three Honorable Mention winners, receiving a JustRite Cling stamp set of their choice, are:

1 – Bonnie McLain submitted with this wonderful gift ensemble for her quick & easy Almond Fudge recipe:

JRC_041 HM Bonnie McLain

JRC_041 HM Bonnie McLain-2

Bonnie used the holly image from our Holiday Cheer set for the box tags, and the holly wreath from our small oval Christmas Joy set — Bonnie just omitted the "Joy" word from the center and then wrote in "Almond Fudge" for her recipe card and tag!

2 – Sheri Holt shares her recipe for yummy Apple Butter, with this pretty ensemble.  Sheri used the apple basket from our Autumn Blessings set to make a topper for her canning jar:

JRC_041 HM Sheri Holt

She also used our Brayton Uppercase font for her recipe title and a center from our Tiny Words set to accent the recipe card!

3 – Gini Cagle used the "Gourmet Hot Cocoa" stamp from our Baking Centers set for the tag on her darling teacup gift container:

JRC_041 HM Gini Cagle

She also used a border from our Christmas Nested Frames to give her teacup a "china pattern"!

JRC_041 HM Gini Cagle2

Congratulations, ladies!  Please email me with your mailing address and stamp set choices and we will ship your prizes to you!  Please be sure to check back tomorrow for another JustRite Friday Challenge!

October 22, 2010 by JustRite Papercraft 3 Comments

Today's JustRite Friday Challenge #041 is another recipe swap — this time for the upcoming holidays!  This might include Halloween treats nicely packaged with your JustRite stamps, your favorite family recipe for Thanksgiving or Christmas breakfast, dinner side dish, or dessert or maybe even holiday party food (perhaps for New Year's Eve?).  And what about treats for teachers during the holidays?  In addition to using JustRite stamps, we'd like for you to also share the actual recipe, so we can all find some new ones we might like to try this holiday season — and start planning and shopping early!  For this recipe swap your projects can include a gift presentaion of the actual recipe.

Angela Barkhouse has the perfect gift presentation to share her Family Holiday Recipes with Family and Friends.

Apron book 7 (4)

This Apron Cookie Swap Book is a great way to package all the recipes from your Christmas Cookie Swap.  Have each of your friends bring their favorite cookies to the swap with enough recipe cards for each person attending the swap.  You can even get together now for a stamping night to create the apron recipe books for the party.

JustRite Friday Challenge 022: Summer Recipe Swap Sponsored by Spellbinders!

June 11, 2010 by JustRite Papercraft 4 Comments

This Friday's Challenge is a Summer Recipe Swap!  You will need to somehow use your JustRite stamps to share your favorite Summertime (or any fun time) recipe with everyone.  Some examples might include a recipe card of your favorite Summer recipe, embellished with JustRite stamps (as I'm sharing below), a canned Summertime recipe/vegetable/fruit, etc. with perhaps a JustRite label on it, or maybe even a bag topper containing your favorite Summertime food, accented with JustRite stamps!

One requirement of this challenge is to share the actual recipe with your blog or gallery readers, so they can find some new recipes!  Remember, you have the weekend and until next Thursday morning to make your challenge project and even if you choose not to play along, we hope you'll keep checking all the project thumbnail links below throughout the week, to find some new recipes!

This week's challenge is sponsored by Spellbinders (prizes are shown below) and as an added bonus, several of the Spellbinders design team members and also some of JustRite's designers already have some projects ready to link up for your enjoyment!  (Spellbinders and JustRite designers are, of course, not eligible for prizes).  So we hope you'll check back throughout the morning and day, to see those amazing projects and recipes!

Also be sure to check the Spellbinders blog tomorrow (Saturday) and Tuesday, when they will be sharing special JustRite/Spellbinders recipe projects!

Here is one of my family's favorite dessert (or sometimes breakfast!) cake recipes, made with a year-round available favorite fruit – apples!  The family recipe is from my sweet friend (and former JustRite design team member), Taylor Van Bruggen:

Recipe-AppleCake-SHwm

My 4" x 6" recipe card uses JustRite's Recipe Borders & Centers set and is included in our 2010 JustRite Idea Book.  I stamped the "Family Favorite Recipes" demi-border with brown ink and "Cakes" separately with red ink.  The center image (accented with an apple cut out of the October Afternoon patterned paper) was die cut separately, layered onto a red die cut mat, and popped up over the border layer.  All cuts were made with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities:

Recipe-AppleCake-CloseSHwm

The final layer to this recipe madallian is an olive Classic Scalloped Circle Nestabilities die cut.  Here's the copy and paste recipe for you:

Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce – Taylor Van Bruggen

Cake Ingredients
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs
6 apples; chopped
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. soda
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 cup margarine; softened

Cake Instructions:  Cream sugar and margarine.  Add eggs.  Mix dry ingredients together and fold into sugar mixture.  Add chopped apples. Put in 9×13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (may need up to 50 minutes and should be nicely browned).

Caramel Sauce Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup whipping (heavy) cream

Caramel Sauce Instructions:  Combine butter and sugar in saucepan.  Melt over medium heat.  Add heavy cream and stir.  Boil until creamy consistency.  Serve warm over cake.

This week's challenge winner will receive these Spellbinders Nestabilities dies (Classic Scalloped Rectangles-Sm & Sm Classic Inverted Scalloped Circles):

June 2010 Win Dies

Honorable Mention winners will receive these Impressabilities templates (Flourish & Circles):

Jun 2010 HM Impress2

Many thanks once again to Spellbinders for their generous sponsorship AND project participation this week!
